Milk techniques, including latte art, are introduced as well as health and safety, customer service and basic business. This course is suitable for people already working as baristas.

Course description

Learn about the roasting process, including roast cycle, roast levels, identifying defects, the physical changes that beans undergo during the roasting process, as well as workspace management and lean production.

Foundation level provides a first taste of a specific coffee discipline and is a great way to get insight into a module to help you decide if you want to go on to learn more. The Foundation level requires no previous experience.

The Rules

10 contestants – 2 sensory judges per contestants – 1 moderator

  • Each contestants will have 10 min to prepare
    • 2 identical hot cocktails (1 per judge)
    • 2 identical cold cocktails (1 per judge)
      • Using the rum of your choice
      • Using the coffee of your choice
  • While they are preparing the drinks, contestants will have to present their coffee and their rum to the judges

RUM COFFEE COCKTAILS CONTEST in Nairobi

RUM & COFFEE COCKTAILS CONTEST IN NAIROBI !

Each contestants will have to create 2 identical cocktails (one per sensory judge – 2 sensory judges – one head judge)

The contestants will have to prepare in front for the judges (2) cocktails made with Rum and Coffee, and while doing them, they will have to describe the organoleptic quality of the Rum (origin, making) and the coffee (origin, terroir and brewing technique).
The cocktails can be hot or cold.
They will also describe their recipe, and talk about the other ingredient (spice, liquor, preparation, origin, quality)
.

  • Each presentation will last no more than 10 min.
  • Each cocktail will be judge on their gustative quality, creativity, the quality of the ingredients, consistency and presentation.
  • The contestants will be judges on their mixologist and barista skills and knowledge.
  • Their customers service skills and speech skills will be also judged.

The entry fee for this competition is FREE

Each contestant will have to bring ingredients (alcohol, coffee…), glassware, mixology tools, and brewing equipment.
An espresso machine, grinders, kettle boilers and water will be available for the contestants.

There is not that many places, only 10 participants!

Each confirmed contestants will have to make a fun cocktail video (59 seconds – square ratio) where the will introduce them to their audience and present their cocktails and will have to upload it on their own Instagram account and Karibu Kahawa Camps account.

The winner’s prize will be soon announced!
